Bathurst Arms
Here at the Bathurst Arms you’ll find wonderful modern British pub food with European influences, a wide selection of wines and ales, and a warm welcome from your host Jordan Pelly and head chef Michal Wlodarcyzk. We also offer a selection of well-appointed, comfortable guest rooms so you can relax and stay with us as well!
A primary focus for the team here at the Bathurst Arms was to create a food offer to support local organic suppliers with aim to raise awareness of the growing culture, supporting organic food and focusing on the impact we create through when farming soil for everything we eat. Adapting our eating habits and the sourcing of where our food comes from, is vital to protect the land we farm to feed ourselves.
Supported by the “Organic Served Here” scheme provided by the soil association, the Bathurst Arms is the first pub to ever achieve 5 star organic status. This badge means at any time over 95% of ingredients are sourced from certified organic farmers, producers and suppliers.
The Soil Association, formed in 1946, is the only UK charity working across the spectrum of human health, the environment and animal welfare. Through their not-for-profit subsidiary Soil Association Certification, they deliver a variety of schemes to support businesses join them with their charitable objectives. Organic Served Here is a positive way that hospitality businesses can engage with these principles.
Mark Machin, development manager for the Soil Association certification said, “We’re very proud to welcome the Bathurst Arms to the movement of hospitality businesses that have decided to grow back better by putting sustainability at the heart of their business. “After a particularly challenging period for the industry, it’s really encouraging to see businesses like the Bathurst continue engaging with Organic Served Here.”
We can’t wait to welcome you here for a drink, a meal or an overnight stay.
Eat
At the Bathurst Arms, we’re really proud of the organic food we serve. Our delicious menu has a selection of small plate dishes, offering something for every occasion and appetite.
Our menu is focused around the quality ingredients our farmers grow seasonally and championing them in our dishes. Our dishes are not about complicated flavours, instead they are a showcase of the best our country has to offer and the quality you get from fresh produce farmed with minimal intervention is second to none.
We encourage a style of menu where friends and families can dine together to enjoy a real food experience, sharing plates to try more dishes between the table is great fun for all. Equally any of our plates work great with a side order to dine in a more conventional fashion.
The best suppliers by miles
At the Bathurst Arms our suppliers are at the foundation of the food we cook. Using only local organic suppliers, cooking in season is paramount which means we work closely with farmers to plan our menus. As we do not work with the large wholesalers, almost all of what we buy and serve will be from farm to fork, keeping the food miles low too.
