Hergest Croft Gardens

Hergest Croft Gardens lies in the heart of the Welsh Marches with stunning views towards the Black Mountains. The gardens contain a unique collection of rare plants, trees and shrubs and over 90 “Champion” Trees. There are gorgeous flower borders, an old fashioned Kitchen Garden, Azalea Garden, Maple Grove, and Park Wood, all to discover. With a Gift Shop and Tearooms the Gardens are the perfect place to explore and relax.

Hergest Croft Gardens extend over 28 ha (70 acres) with more than five thousand rare trees and shrubs described as “one of the finest collections of trees and shrubs in the British Isles”. The Gardens hold the UK National Collections of Maples, birches and Zelkovas. The six distinct areas are Hergest Croft, the Azalea Garden, the Maple Grove, the Kitchen Garden, the Park and Park Wood.

Dogs on leads are welcome.

The Tearoom
The Tearoom is in the old Dining Room at Hergest Croft but teas can also be served on the Verandah and outside along the Terrace. Ridgeway Catering provide a waitress service and offer delicious home-made cakes, welsh cakes, cream teas, and light lunches to all visitors to the garden. The tearoom has received the ‘Flavours of Herefordshire’ Award Scheme. Morning coffee, special lunches and teas are available for groups on request.

Plant Sales
The Plant Sales area lies outside the Conservatory at Hergest Croft. Many rare and unusual trees, shrubs and perennials are available, many raised in the garden, some from wild seed. A wide range of birches and maples are usually offered.

Gift Shop
The Gift Shop is located in the Hall. There is something for everyone from toys to puzzles; cards to china; bits and pieces for gardeners, jams and condiments, and a wide range of gifts associated with gardening.
