Rowlestone Ice Cream

Rowlestone Court is a family farm caravan and camping site nestled in the Welsh Black Mountains and have been living on, and working, the land for over 70 years.

Country Walks
Enjoy a short stroll or a long walk. From the car park the path leads into the native species garden where you can sit in the shade by the pond, or wander through the glade. Younger walkers will enjoy the Woodland Adventure Trail just off the pathway.

The wildlife garden is wheelchair accessible. Thereafter, stout walking boots or shoes are a must (it is a livestock farm after all).

The path continues on through wild flower meadows into the ancient woods.

The campsite boasts beautiful views across the British landscape. It is popular with individual families as well as large get-togethers and reunions. There have been birthday parties, college reunions and extended family gatherings – just a few of the reasons why people come to camp at Rowlestone again and again!

Most of our pitches are for tents, but we also have five caravan or motorhome pitches. We are a CL Certified site and are registered with the Caravan and Camping Club.

Well behaved dogs welcome. Our certified campsite is suitable for people of all ages, including those with restricted mobility.

Rowlestone Court is a rich educational resource for school-age children. Many aspects of the curriculum can be explored and illustrated within the 300 acres of farmland, one third of which is woodland and copse. We have wonderful examples of indigenous flora and fauna, birds and farm animals.

Many visiting groups of young children come to study life cycles and ecosystems. The story of ice cream starts with the birth of our calves, follows the ensuing lactation of the cow, and culminates with the ice cream being made (always a popular sight with the kids!).

Our farm includes a children’s playground with a twin fort and slide, swings, a tractor and a willow dome. For those seeking further thrills, our Woodland Adventure Trail features a tyre tunnel, zipwire, climbing wall, balance beams, monkey bars and a tyre stack!

After a nice walk through the woods, why not stop at our café and enjoy freshly-brewed tea or expresso coffee with homemade cakes. We also offer light lunches, snacks, (such as local sausages and burgers, eggs and bacon) – and of course you can choose from our many flavours of ice cream. Try our ‘affagato’ – luxurious vanilla ice cream with a neat espresso poured over… sublime!

Visit Golden Valley as it winds its way sheltered between the Black Mountains and the banks of the River Dore. With Hay-on-Wye a close neighbour to the village of Dorstone, the valley winds down through Peterchurch, Vowchurch and Abbey Dore to Ewyas Harold at the south of the Golden Valley.

These time-forgotten villages are set in some of the most untouched Herefordshire countryside you could ever hope to see.

Discover the best things to do & events in the Golden Valley.
