Beer On The Wye

Beer On The Wye is Herefordshire’s biggest beer and cider festival, set on the banks of the River Wye at the city’s rowing club.

To showcase Herefordshire’s cider heritage we aim to bring you over 130 different cider and perries to try again this year. A hundred of these are from Herefordshire producers with some excellent offerings from outside the county too.

​Again we shall be hosting the prestigious CAMRA West Midlands Cider and Perry competition, winners of which will go through to the national stages.

People come from all over the UK (nay the world) to see (and try!) the largest selection of Herefordshire draught ciders and perries ever assembled under one roof. It all makes for a most impressive sight (and taste).

We’re proud that Beer on the Wye is a family-friendly event. It’s always trouble-free and we are happy to admit accompanied, well-behaved children up to 6pm. However, the best time for families is without doubt our popular Family Fun Day on the Sunday.

​Run by our festival charity, HOPE Support Services, The Family Fun Day runs from 12noon until 5pm and admission is only £1; accompanied kids for free. Parents can relax and enjoy some of the many beers, ciders and perries at a discounted price, whilst the little ones get to enjoy the bags full of entertainment and activities laid on for them.

​Activities include a children’s entertainment, face-painting and many other fun activities with some acoustic music to complete the picture. There is festival fruit punch, soft drinks, crisps, ice-cream and a sweetie van on site.

With its wonderful laid-back atmosphere set in a riverside meadow in the historic heart of Hereford, Beer on the Wye has become a ‘must-do’ festival for many. People come from near and far. Last year over 6,000 people attended over the three days and drank between them over 21,000 pints – and this year we are expecting more people to drink more beer and cider! It’s just a great event in a fabulous location.
