Staycations In The Midlands: A Remote Worker’s DreaM By Sam Walsh

Staycations In The Midlands A Remote Workers Dream

Remote working has become widespread. Gone are the days of traipsing into a dreary office five days a week. Many companies instead offer much more flexible policies. These allow you to work from home or other locations. Why not use it to your advantage?

No matter what your job is, we all need a break from time to time. And remote working offers you the chance to combine business with pleasure. For example, there are several luxurious retreats dotted around the heart of England that you can explore. They’re the perfect place to get your work done before unwinding in spectacular new surroundings. You can access your work resources remotely using a dedicated IP and be ready to relax as soon as you close your laptop.

The most difficult part might be choosing where to go! That’s why we’ve picked out these four soothing spots.

Astley Castle, Warwickshire

A fire in the 1970s left Astley Castle in ruins, but it was then restored to offer comfortable and rustic accommodation. That project earned it the RIBA Stirling Prize for Architecture in 2013 and the magnificent site now sleeps eight. Its open-plan living space combines the modern with the historic. Dogs are welcome too – just ensure they don’t jump in the moat surrounding the accommodation.

Burton Court, Herefordshire

For spacious rooms and glorious views, look no further than Burton Court – a Grade II listed building. Situated in the Herefordshire countryside, it’s the perfect place for a spot of relaxation once you’ve finished work. Enter through the gates, make your way up the long drive, and settle in for bed and breakfast, with food served in the elegant dining room.

Thornbury Castle, Gloucestershire

Visit Thornbury Castle and feel like royalty. Get work out of the way and then crash out on one of the magnificent four-poster beds featured in every room. This striking structure dates back to the 16th century and once played host to Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. It’s not lost any of its impressive grandeur 500 years on.

Weston Hall, Staffordshire

Weston Hall is another Grade II listed building and boasts eight bedrooms of sophisticated luxury. You can book in for dinner, bed, and breakfast, the cosy Cellar restaurant also offers afternoon tea. Surrounded by 20 acres of Staffordshire countryside, it’s ideal for getting out for some fresh air when you’re done with the duties of the working day.
