Victorian Mop Fair

Join us at Blists Hill Victorian Town on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April to experience a Victorian Mop Fair, also known as a hiring fair, an event attended by labourers looking for seasonal work for the summer.

There will be music and a parade as the town says good-bye to the Shroppies, or Shropshire Pit Girls, leaving Shropshire for London to work the fruit and vegetable season. Plus the opportunity to see experts demonstrating traditional crafts including coracles on the canal, pipe-making, stone masonry and blacksmithing.
