Singing For The Terrified
Join Polly for a gentle journey from speech to song and find your voice. Polly believes that we developed our singing voice through evolution and we use it every day without realising. She uses simple and fun techniques for building vocal confidence and encourages people to enjoy the sound of their own voice.
Polly has recorded and toured with Ashley Hutchings and Show of Hands and has recorded several albums. In 1998 she began teaching singing workshops and started her community choir, Ludlow Larks. She built a workshop centre on her smallholding where she has run courses on singing for over 18 years, teaching songs from around the world including folk, jazz, gospel and Celtic voice ornamentation. In 2011 Polly started another community choir, Tenbury Library Choir.
Polly writes and arranges songs for her choirs and works with poet, Gill McEvoy on song and poetry projects for choirs, performing three times at the Much Wenlock Poetry Festival. She is a member of the Natural Voice Network, which encourages people to sing with others.
Polly began teaching “Singing for the Terrified” workshops about 15 years ago, encouraging people to enjoy the sound of their voices and to have the confidence to sing with others.
