Alderford is a special place with great outdoor space.
- Self catering accommodation
Alderford Lake welcomes wild swimmers. The water quality is very good and we attract all types of swimmers – from those trying wild swimming for the first time to triathletes.
From swallows to swans, you’ll see plenty of wildlife as you walk around the lake. If a wildlife walk doesn’t wear your little ones out then our playground will. Dogs are welcome at Alderford lake, we just ask that they are kept on their leads at all times. Well behaved dogs are allowed in the café. There is a small charge of 50p per person to walk around the lake. If you’re a regular why not enjoy free year round access and other benefits with an Alderford loyalty card. Just pick one up in the café.
We don’t supply canoes, kayaks or paddleboards but you can bring your own to Alderford and explore all that the lake has to offer. We allow kayaks, canoes and paddleboards on the water between café opening hours, seven days a week.
If you’ve ridden to Alderford lake then let us know as we reward cyclists with a 10% discount in the café. There’s bike parking close to the café and we’ve got plenty of fuel in the form of coffee and cake to help with the ride home. We are on the JOGLE route (John o’Groats to Lands End) and cycle route 43.
We are very proud to welcome Shropshire Wildlife Trust to Alderford. Shropshire Wildlife Trust protects the wildlife where you live. At Alderford they will be manning an interactive pod to encourage young visitors to get a closer look at the natural world.
