Birches Mill Cottages
Blissfully quiet and away from it all, Birches Mill Cottages are tucked into a secluded valley in the South Shropshire Hills, just three miles from the pretty village of Clun, and a short drive from historic Ludlow.
The 17th century former corn-mill has provided the perfect refuge from city life for owners Andrew and Gill and, using their backgrounds in art and design, they have tastefully converted it to two comfortable country cottages, ideal for rest and relaxation.
The Miller’s Cottage is our larger cottage, comfortable for either one couple with a child or friend, or for two singles preferring separate bedrooms. The cottage has white painted stone walls, honey-coloured beams and original mill ironwork, and is furnished in a tasteful and relaxed country style. The living area is open plan to the colourfully tiled kitchen, and there is a well appointed shower room at the foot of the stairs. Upstairs, there are two spacious bedrooms, one double and one single. Both have beamed ceilings with Velux windows giving views across open countryside. Outside, the wild-flower garden catches the afternoon sun and is a lovely place to sit and unwind.
Mill Stream Cottage is a stylish and romantic cottage for one couple. The combined living room and kitchen have original stone walls, beams and a painted wooden floor with coir rug. The Shaker-style kitchen units are painted duck-egg blue and there is a traditional Belfast sink. Open-plan stairs lead up to a beamed double bedroom with views over the fields and an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath. Outside, a trellis separates the parking area from a paved garden which adjoins open countryside.
The surrounding countryside is outstandingly beautiful and rich in birds and wildlife – a unique and unspoilt retreat we hope you can share.
