Fordhall Organic Farm

Fordhall Organic Farm is England’s first community-owned farm. We have a fresh food café, farm shop and three free walking trails weaving around the farm (dogs welcome on a lead – children can be free-range!). Fordhall offers the perfect place for a leisurely walk to escape the hustle and bustle and immerse yourself in nature. Young adventurers can climb trees, paddle in the river, run through the fields, search for minibeasts, dip a net in the river and cool off in the shady woodland. We are open to the public all year round.

Following a high profile campaign in 2006 to save the family home of siblings Charlotte and Ben Hollin, people across the world supported the Farm and it is now owned by the community and farmed by Ben – Fordhall is a wonderful example of community spirit and real organic farming. We have been farming organically since the Second World War following the forward thinking of the late Arthur Hollins.

Celebrate your special day with us, whether you opt for a traditional wedding ceremony in a church with a marquee wedding reception, or an outdoor ceremony with straw bales and country music, Fordhall has something to offer every bride & groom. Our beautiful organic landscape based in the Tern Valley offers views and choice, especially for those looking for a more relaxed celebration.

For special events/functions for group bookings of 12 – 60 guests Arthur’s Farm Kitchen will open (upstairs or downstairs). So, whether it is an anniversary, special birthday, retirement or simply a family get together, our beautiful room suits all occasions.

Extend your experience and stay with us in two types of accommodation. Constructed from straw bales, wood, sheep’s wool and car tyres, our eco-friendly Straw Lodge is one of the largest volunteer-built straw bale buildings in England. Built by the community for the community, our welcoming building provides an inspiring base for people to learn about low-impact, organic farming. It also show cases environmentally-friendly and traditional architectural techniques. With accommodation for 25, we look forward to welcoming school groups, Scouts, Guides and other community groups, as well as businesses. Alternatively, spend a magical glamping holiday in our Shropshire-made Mongolian yurts. Perfect for a romantic weekend break or a fun family holiday for up to 6 people. You have a wonderful secluded spot, offering total privacy as we only offer the one unit so you have no neighbours (other than our livestock and the abundant wildlife!).

We look forward to sharing our farm with you.
