Set in an 18th-century farmhouse with views across the Shropshire countryside, Old Downton Lodge is just 15 minutes’ drive from Ludlow’s historic town centre and castle. With a beautiful flower-filled courtyard, this guest accommodation offers rooms with wooden beams and flagstone floors.

Walk through its cartway and enter Old Downton’s secret world. Even the grounds seem timeless – there’s the remains of an ancient Motte and the cottage garden just invites you to take a seat, relax and enjoy a glass of wine.

Full English breakfasts and evening meals are served in the grand and elegantly furnished dining room, which features bare stone walls and a high ceiling.
