The Hole In The Wall is based in a very historical building in the centre of Shrewsbury Town, and you can easily find us on Stoplatch just off Shrewsbury Square. Originally part of a 13th century mansion, our pub still boasts some of the original windows and doors of “Shute Hall”. Our beer cellar still has partitions which are believed to be the cells of a very old debtors prison from centuries ago. Records from the 16th century tell us that the building was an old inn, once a favourite stopover for travelling performers — be sure to keep an eye out for “Lady Sarah” who is rumoured to haunt the building after hours.

Close by you’ll find Shrewsbury University, and near you there are a few attractions, such as the Old Market Hall, Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery, St Winefrides Convent, The River Severn, and Shrewsbury Castle.
