Frome Valley Vineyard
Frome Valley Vineyard stands on the banks of the river Frome at Paunton. On a south facing slope surrounded by orchards, hop yards and rolling meadows it is easy to see why the site was chosen over twenty years ago.
Classically English still and sparkling wines from the Frome Valley in the heart of England.
Every vineyard has its own distinctive character shaped by the location, the soils and the micro-climatic conditions. Here at Frome Valley we have a warm sheltered site, protected from the prevailing weather systems and a gently sloping well drained silty soil which warms readily and provides fertility and a rich balance of minerals for our vines.
Our grape varieties include Pinot Noir, Bacchus, Reichensteiner, Madeleine Angevine, Schonurger and Rondo. This selection has proved well suited to the conditions and benefit from a long growing season and slow ripening.
Our wines are classically English in style with vibrant acidity, a fresh floral nose and clean on the pallet with plenty of fruit. This style of wine fits well with the current interest in lighter styles of wine form cool climate regions.
At Frome Valley Vineyard we have a 1.5ha vineyard with nine different vine varieties. We also have a demonstration vineyard showing the main trellising systems used throughout the world.
Our shop sells our seven still wines together with the award winning sparkling wine as wells as our cider, brandy and other wine related gifts.
If you are travelling any distance please call us to ensure that we are available to meet you.
We can accommodate groups of up to twenty people for tours and wine tastings.
