Had a lovely meal Saturday, but unfortunately we found a button in the chicken pie ,told staff but didn’t get apology from them or management, very poor

My friend and I met at The Chequers yesterday for a light lunch. Reluctantly we were shown to a table and barely had we sat down when a blackboard with menus was put in front of us, and menus just dropped on the table. When I enquired about the vegan menu, which used to be very good,the waiter had no idea and did not offer to show vegan choices. We found them, but what a poor choice.! My friend went for salmon,but did not expect thick doorstep slices with a knife rammed through the middle. And served on a badly burnt and damaged chopping board which was cracked and split we are sure they must be very difficult to clean when so damaged.

My .onion Barje was badly burnt to a crisp and had none of the soft centre that should have been there.

We wanted a relaxing time, as we had enjoyed in the past ,but we felt rushed as if he wanted to clear the table quickly. wanting us to leave..Maybe it was time for break but customers should not feel rushed or pressured to order quickly.

We will remember the many pleasant times we had,but are not likely to return. The. Chequers has lost its welcoming and relaxing aura!
