The Maltings Cafe

Delicious home cooked food in the heart of Clun can be found at The Maltings Cafe.

Visitors can sit, relax and enjoy a fine selection of produce, freshly prepared to order or choose from our range of homemade cakes and scones. Why not rest awhile and delight in a range of teas, coffee and cold drinks.

The Maltings Cafe is housed in a building which was originally built as a Malt House around 1640, the food preparation area at the rear of the kitchen was the original kiln used to heat the barley. In Edwardian times The Maltings was called ‘Old Talbot’ and the building had three floors with an exterior stone staircase which enabled barley and water to be taken to the first floor where the perforations in the floor allowed heat from the kiln below to carry out the malting process.
