The Temple Bar Inn
The Temple Bar Inn
Gino and Rachael welcome you to The Temple Bar Inn, Ewyas Harold. Independently owned and first licensed in the 1850s, the beautiful Virginia Creeper clad, stone building changes appearance throughout the year, from light to dark green leaves during spring and summer, to an autumnal fiery red and is a real focal point for the village.
Assured of a warm welcome from landlord and locals, a roaring wood burner in the winter, and a beautiful sun drenched rear courtyard in the summer, and with its 3 ensuite rooms, it’s perfect for a relaxing staycation exploring the Golden Valley.
As well as local walks and the Ewyas Harold Common stretching to over 120 acres, we are also just 12 miles from both Hereford and Abergavenny and the start of the Black Mountains, and just over an hour away from Pen-Y-Fan and the Brecon Beacons.

An evening to remember
We visited the Temple Bar for a Valentines meal. My husband and u were shown to our table and I was given a beautiful single redrose. We also had a complimentary glass of prosecco to complete the setting. We ordered our food and were not disappointed. The crab and smoked salmon roulade was delicious and yet light enough to leave some room for the main course. Our meals were well presented and looked as good as they tasted. Staff were attentive and friendly throughout. We rounded off the meal with a beautiful cheeseboard to share. A lovely selection of cheeses and fine quality biscuits. We felt very valued as customers and thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Temple Bar Inn doesn’t disappoint!
Very friendly service, nice local beers (recommend the draft Butty Bach) and high quality fish and chips with skin-on tasty fries and a yummy sauce. Highly recommend.
