The Courtyard Centre for the Arts is the leading arts provider in Herefordshire and a registered charity. We have a 400-seat main house, a 120-seat studio theatre, rehearsal rooms, a gallery, meeting spaces and an award-winning cafe bar. Whilst being primary a receiving venue, we also produce in house including our annual panto, youth theatre shows and some co-producing. We have a varied live, film and visual arts programme, a thriving youth theatre and work extensively with people of all ages in the community.

Pop Up Shop

Location: Hereford, Herefordshire

INDIE style will be the order of the day as some of Herefordshire’s small businesses come together to sell their unique wares.

Maylords Shopping Centre, Hereford, will play host to the first ever major pop-up shop for makers and creatives from Herefordshire and the Marches.

Running for six weeks, the pop-up promises to showcase and sell the best of locally produced art, clothing, jewellery, toys, housewares and more, in addition to a small vintage goods section.

The pop-up will also be hosting an art gallery and workshops for those wishing to try their hand at a new skill or trade.

The pop-up shop will be open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sundays from June 17 to July 28.

Craft On The Outside Art Exhibition

Venue: Weir Garden

Join us for garden-inspired art alongside the Wye.

After spending time at The Weir, Hereford College of Arts students will be creating individual pieces of craft. Threaded throughout the garden, you can view their Weir inspired pieces up close.

Garden Photography Competition

Discover the gardens in an entirely new way as you take up the challenge of getting the best winter shot of ‘Capability’ Brown’s final masterpiece.

As part of the Berrington Garden Project, we want you to give us a fresh perspective of the gardens in summer by using your camera.

With a prize for the best shot, come and embrace the summer garden and our newly reopened curved garden.

If you have a camera and can send your pictures to us either via email or through social media, then come and have a go. All of the money raised will go towards the garden project.

New Perspectives

Come and discover a new exhibition at Berrington and uncover the new ways that SHYPP have been inspired by the Berrington Garden Project.

As part of the Berrington Garden Project, we have been working closely with SHYPP (Supported Housing for Young People Project), and have offered the young people a chance to creatively respond to the gardens. Now, we are inviting you to come and discover this new exhibition in the Welcome Centre and learn about what the gardens mean to this group.

The Garden Project is a large scale project that is looking to revive the gardens and offer them as a space for groups throughout the community.

A Dress Fit For A King

Venue: Berrington Hall

We’re revealing the hidden stories of women during the eighteenth century at Berrington. Discover stories of the lives, loves and losses of women both upstairs and downstairs.

Uncover the original eighteenth-century Court Mantua dress, owned by Ann Bangham, the wife of Berrington’s original owner, Thomas Harley. Discover more about the Harley’s and the culture of the Georgians.

Working with this exhibition, Herefordshire artist Lorna J Brown has created, ‘Eye am She’ to redress the balance of Berrington’s stories, revealing the hidden feminine aspects and how they are intertwined and integral to the masculine successes at Berrington.

‘Eye am She’ by Lorna J Brown

Experience an artistic response to the story of Ann Bangham, wife of Berrington’s original owner, Thomas Harley, as Herefordshire based artist Lorna J Brown brings us ‘Eye am She’.

Join us as Lorna J Brown introduces ‘Eye am She’. This is a mixed-media art installation, inspired by the life of Ann Bangham and the eighteenth-century seedlings of modern celebrity culture. Throughout this piece Brown also references different elements of the Georgian’s culture, including their use of ‘Lover’s Eye Miniatures’ and ‘The Secret Language of Flowers’. This is an entirely fresh perspective on Berrington’s past, Georgian culture and the women that lived here.

Nozstock

Location: Bromyard, Herefordshire

Amid the emerald fields and raggle-taggle farmhouses of Herefordshire’s ruralest countryside lies Nozstock The Hidden Valley.

Like the very best of festivals, Nozstock was founded by a fun-loving family, their extended relatives, friends, acquaintances and pretty much everyone who had a guitar to play or a joke to tell. It was a hazy, optimistic time at the turn of the millennium, when life felt simple and summers were long and full of amusements. The Hidden Valley has successfully retained this homely, welcoming nostalgia, but we’ve woven it into a delightful amalgamation of performance, art, electronic supersounds and good old-fashioned guitar-strumming and drum-bashing, thanks to some great advice and not a small dose of audience participation and feedback. Now an established family event, Nozstock is a sonic escape boasting nine stages of entertainment with surprising sights and intimate, secluded areas of theatre and discovery to be unearthed.

When its visitors down tools and hand themselves over to Nozstock’s crew, safe in the knowledge that their hedonistic needs will be met, they discover there’s a small world of frivolity to find, all scrupulously programmed by the festival’s founders, the Nosworthy family and their eclectically informed friends.

The festival’s ethos is about bringing play to everyone, in whatever form it can. Nozstock believes in the value of not only entertaining, but in participation and contribution. It’s an ever-changing event with a clear agenda; to invite conversation, interaction and serious recreation. Above all, Nozstock The Hidden Valley is a blissful family festival that caters to all ages with activities that little ones can enjoy as well as entertainment for teens, students, seasoned festivalites, party-starters and grandparents.
