Hereford River Carnival is a live event on the evening of Friday 25th August and all day on Saturday 26th August.

Hereford River Carnival… A creative and unique event that lasts two days. A celebration of the River Wye that takes place on and beside the river. Around the city of Hereford on August bank holiday weekend each year, the event, run by volunteers, has grown and grown since its reincarnation in 2014.

The original River Carnival dates back before the 50’s, with its floats created and brought to life by local communities and businesses throughout Herefordshire. Today we are delighted to share that that is happening again today, with the most exciting and out there ideas for what can float down the Wye! In 2018 attracted around 20,000 visitors.

Since it was re-introduced in 2014, Hereford River Carnival has grown to become Herefordshire’s biggest feel good, community event – and it remains entirely free for the public.In 2020, the pandemic led us to get even more creative and we staged our first virtual Carnival – you can enjoy all the fun by clicking the link here. But of course, we miss all of you. 20,000 Carnival goers joined us in 2018. You sang, danced, made masks and carnival costumes, ate great local food and generally had fun messing about on the Wye.
