Hereford Triathlon

Herefordshire’s traditional super sprint triathlon has been organised by Hereford Triathlon Club for three decades. It’s an ideal race for beginners and people who are having a go at triathlon for the first time. In 2021 the race will once again take place at Leominster Leisure Centre.

We’re determined to do everything that we can to make sure that the race can go ahead safely under the appropriate coronavrius guidelines. Please read these details carefully before entering.

The event will be held under the guidance of British Triathlon and with the permission of Herefordshire Council, West Mercia Police, Halo Leisure and the Earl Mortimer College. In order to keep the competitors, volunteers, staff and local people safe and reassured, it’s essential for everybody to abide by the necessary rules and guidance. These will be provided in advance of the race.

If the race takes place within 6 weeks of indoor public pools reopening then, under British Triathlon guidance, it will be non competitive. Times will be given but there will not be prizes.

You will start in waves of 12 swimmers who will be allocated staggered times 15 minutes apart from 0800 through to 0930 and then from 1030 to 1200. The start times will be arranged according to your estimated swim speed and the start list will be published in the week before the race. There will be a gap of an hour to allow for a deep clean of the facilities and to make sure social distancing is maintained in the transition area.

We can guarantee you a beautiful course through the Herefordshire countryside, friendly marshals, a simple well-marked route, chip timing and lots of vocal support.

The race is organised by the members of Hereford Triathlon Club and we aim to make it as relaxed and friendly as possible. Any money that we make gets used to help the club run throughout the year.

You’ll start by swimming 400 metres in the indoor pool before heading to transition next door at the Earl Mortimer College.

The 12 mile bike course is undulating but fast and you’ll head out of town and towards Bromyard on the A44, turning around at the King’s Head Pub in the village of Docklow.

Back to the school and the 3 mile run takes you around the town of Leominster including some of the historic sites before finishing at the school.

We’re also offering an Aqua Bike race. You’ll compete the swim and bike sections and your finishing time will be taken as you cross back into transition after your bike.
